Davide had played football and swimming but a friend of his convinced him to choose volleyball. Good decision as he did not take long for him to be selected in the Italian national team juniors. He moved to Taranto in the A1 before spending three years in the A2 with Cavriago, Santa Croce and Atripalda, with which he finished third best blocker with 61 in 2012-13. Just like Noda Blanco, Candellaro was last season at Latina.
