The athletic trainer Pascal Sabato speaks, who had the task of orchestrating the first phases of physical preparation, in the warm sessions of the PalaMazzola from 22 August, where the boys are gradually resuming training, and the weight training sessions in the morning at the Gym ’83 with a detailed plan and with specific files for each athlete.
For the next few weeks there are also some sessions in the pool at the Bellevue pools, proprioceptive to better tone up and find a state of shape that allows the athletes to already carry out the first test matches without problems.
How did you find the boys returning from the summer period?
I found them to be in medium shape, in general they are all keeping up with work and have come through this first week of work in the best possible way, I’m satisfied but there is still a long way to go.
What kind of work did you propose during this first phase?
For the first week, the boys faced a sort of muscular awakening with mat and coordination exercises, as well as aerobics, in order to gradually regain confidence with their bodies under the stress of physical work.
What type of differentiated work is foreseen for the next few weeks?
For the second week we will do an important job still in the weight room where we will start working on resistance strength, in addition to the daily sessions at the PalaMazzola, and from the third week onwards we will also add two weekly sessions in the pool.
Your personal opinion on how this new working group looks to you.
It’s a very motivated and energetic group, of course it’s still early to be able to draw balances but in general they seem very enthusiastic and with a great desire to improve, align with the others and find the best possible shape to face the championship in the best possible way.
