WiMORE Salsomaggiore announces the signing of the Dutch opposite Rik Van Solkema, in his second year in Italy after the experience at Gamma Chimica Brugherio, again in the White Group of Serie A3, which culminated in his conquest of salvation in the Play Outs. Born on 11 June 1999 in Haarlem but resident in Nijehaske in the North-West area of the Netherlands, two meters tall, he played in the ranks of Talentteam Papendal, Vallei Volleyball Prins, Draisma Dynamo Apeldoorn, with whom he won between 2018 and 2020 a national cup and a championship, at home then the two stages of Tectum Achel in Belgium and SKV Ustì nad Labem in the Czech Republic before moving to Brugherio in October 2022, where he managed to score 369 points in the Regular Season (plus 41 in three games of the Play Outs) at an average of 15.4 per game, accompanied by a percentage of 43.6% in attack and, above all, by the seasonal record, relating to the White Group of Serie A3, of 37 balls thrown on the occasion of the internal challenge last November 19 against San Giustino, preceding in this special ranking just the former Parma player, Hristiyan Dimitrov, who stopped at 35 on Boxing Day at Garlasco’s house. The Dutch “tulip”, who until a year ago had always been employed as opposite and in 2018 participated in the Under 20 European Championship finishing in fourth place, comes from a family of volleyball players: his father Arno, already a player in the past, is a coach and has held important positions in Germany, Sweden and for the youth national teams of his country in both men’s and women’s fields, his younger brother Luuk, born in 2000, will do the opposite of Chev Diekirch in Luxembourg. For Rik, on the other hand, in the round of the Dutch National B team (last week he was part of the expedition that reached the third step of the podium at the “International Tournament of the Two Seas” in Taranto won by Italy), a new chapter opens in the WiMORE Salsomaggiore. “I received several offers but the one from Parma was the best. I know the volleyball history of this square, the team made a good impression on me when we met last year (17 points in the first leg at PalaRaschi then didn’t play in the second leg due to a shoulder injury) and the management seemed serious and competent from the first meeting”.
