Valsa Group Modena is ready for the CEV Cup 2023 Finals: Wednesday evening at 20.30 the yellows host the Belgians from Roeselare for the first leg. The PalaPanini will therefore fill up again a few days after Game 3 of the Quarter Finals of SuperLega Credem Banca, where the hosts were defeated in three sets by Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. The red and whites, who are already preparing for Game 4 scheduled for Sunday 2 April at 18.00, were excluded in the Semifinal by Roeselare, preventing a possible Italian (and Emilian) derby in the Final. The second leg, a match that will award the Cup, is instead scheduled in Belgium on Wednesday 5 April, at the Tomabel Hall in Roeselare.

Salvatore Rossini will take part in the match, who will be operated on Thursday morning under local anesthesia on the tendon of the third phalanx of the index finger of his right hand. The athlete will be available on Wednesday evening in the CEV Cup and will be back on the field again for Sunday’s match in Piacenza.

The yellows will play a European Final again fifteen years after the last time: then it was 2008, in the Challenge Cup, always with Andrea Giani on the bench. Modena reached the CEV Cup 2023 Final thanks to a 3-2 success in the Semifinal against Belchatow, after a 3-1 home win in the first leg. Previously, Bruno and his companions had had to overcome Ljubljana with two victories in the quarter-finals, come back against the Germans of Luneburg in the Play Offs (3-2 suffered in Germany, the yellows’ only defeat in the Cup, compensated by a 3-1 at the PalaPanini) and get rid in the Round of 16 and in the Round of 16 by the Finns of Sastamala and the Turks of Arkas Izmir, leaving only one set on the road in the four matches.

Knack Roeselare, on the other hand, arrived to play the CEV Cup Finals as the “first” team drawn from the Champions League: third in group C, the same as Civitanova, with 3 wins and 8 points, they made their debut in the CEV in the Quarter Finals in the Belgian derby with Greenyard Maaseik, and subsequently they ousted Bluenergy Daiko Volley Piacenza in the Semifinal. In both double-header matches, the team coached by Vanmedegael won the first leg “by three” between friendly walls, only to lose 3-0 in the second leg away and qualify for the Golden Set. The Belgian team last May won its second consecutive championship, bringing the number of titles won to 13 since 1964.

The match between Valsa Group Modena and Knack Roeselare will be live on Eurosport 1 and live streaming on discovery+. The formula is the usual: round trip with possible Golden Set in case of perfect equality of points obtained.
