With the Open Day held yesterday afternoon at the town house in via Silla, Avimecc Volley Modica officially opens the season for the youth sector as well.
In addition to the managers of the biancoazzurro association, the technicians and a representative of the first team preparing for their debut in the A3 series took part in the event which was attended by many children and young people of different age groups who spent a carefree afternoon at the teaches games and fun and they have been able to see some of their favorites up close, “dreaming” of maybe one day being in their place in a playing rectangle.
Furthermore, the Modica management also thought about the social aspect and for the occasion invited a group of young people to the event, guests of the “Papa Giovanni XXIII” Community Association, which takes care of orphaned children from the war in Ukraine. These are mostly children from the orphanages of Mariupol and Kramatorsk who arrived in Sicily in May and in addition to Modica are housed in facilities in Trapani, Catania and Alcamo.
“Yesterday – explains DS Manuela Cassibba – we wanted to organize this event to open the doors of volleyball in general and of our team in particular to all children and young people in the area. The participation was comforting, but what we liked most was seeing these children playing, having fun and reading the enthusiasm in their eyes in being able to play with the boys of the first team and the technicians who, I thank for their collaboration. On this occasion we wanted to invite also the children hosted by the Pope John XXIII Community Association “which also operates in our city, to try to entertain and maybe try to integrate with our reality these children who are suffering far from their land and from their affections and seeing them smile even for a single minute filled us with joy. We are happy to be able to give them an afternoon of lightheartedness and play because we believe that, like all children, they have the right and above all need it. We had a good response in terms of participation – concludes Manuela Cassibba – this means that we have hit our target and we are ready to start again with the young players for next season ”.
