Federico Bonami has chosen a particular and suggestive way to get to Siena: he did it by walking. And so the free 28-year-old who will wear the Emma Villas Aubay jacket set off from Greve in Chianti and in two days traveled the 50 kilometers to reach Siena, in Piazza del Campo. “Doing something like this is nothing new for me – are his words – given that a few years ago I traveled the 800 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago. For me, walking is also a meditative form, it is a way to slow down from the frenetic pace of our lives and to reflect. When you walk you have time and a way to think about many things ”.
Federico Bonami’s transfer to Emma Villas Aubay materialized in the last hours of the market. It was the last shot made by the Sienese team in the summer. For Bonami, who was born in Bagno a Ripoli, it is a return to Tuscany. “I’m back to play in Tuscany after several years – comments the free – and I wanted to enter the new reality by walking. I am positively excited by this return to my region. I did not know the Sienese territory well, this walk allowed me to get to know it better. I left from Greve, then I touched Panzano and Castellina in Chianti, where I slept the first night: the next day I left again, I passed through Fonterutoli, Leonina, Quercegrossa and from there I reached Siena “.
In a few days the preparation of the biancoblu team will start. The team will meet on Friday 12 August, the day of the start of training at the Olympic training center in Tirrenia, in the province of Pisa. “The team that has been set up seems interesting to me, I like it – says Bonami. – I know a lot of the guys already. The club has focused on a group in which there are many Italians, who already know our league well. The Super League championship is obviously very difficult, there are important rosters. We will have to think about creating a good group and achieving our goal, which is salvation. I’m ready, I really want to play and I feel a lot of positive energy ”.
And on his last minute transfer to Siena: “It all materialized in the end – he says. – It was not an easy operation but in the end it went through. There was a willingness on both sides to meet us. When the opportunity arose, I’m in”.
