Three days after Modena and Treia’s victory, Trento responded with a 3-0 victory over Monza in the postponed game of round 25 and regained first place. Trento has not lost at home in almost a year, its last defeat came on April 13 2014 against Latina. And tonight, they registered their 17th win on home court in as many games. Birarelli and co now need just two points to win the regular season. Nemec, top scorer, and Kaziyski took advantage of the brilliant digs done by Colaci, who was deservedly named MVP of the game.
Massimo Colaci (Energy T.I. Diatec Trentino): “This is my first MVP award in career. I am obviously thrilled but we can all be happy to be back on top and a step closer to win the regular season. It won’t be easy to win in Piacenza but after a comfortable 3-0 victory like tonight’s, it’s definitely a plus. We did a good job of staying focused throughout this game”.
Nikola Jovovic (Vero Volley Monza): “We knew our chances were limited against a strong team like Trento. The technical and tactical gap between the two teams is evident and you could easily see it tonight. In the third set we woke up a little but still did too little to have any chance to win it. Our goal will be to seal the season with a win over Padova on Sunday”.
