A comeback only came close for Allianz Milano in the second leg of the CEV Champions League Play Offs. Roberto Piazza’s team, after the 3-1 defeat in the first leg against Halkbank Ankara, was able to drag out last night’s match at the Golden Set, with the decisive partial which saw the Turkish team prevail. However, Milan started off strong at the e-Work Arena in Busto Arsizio, winning the first two sets. The third set sees the success of the Turkish team, while the fourth set, the one that sends the two teams to the Golden Set, sees the victory of Milan with the advantages. For Milan, good performances from Ferre Reggers (23 points), Yacine Louati (18 points), Matey Kaziyski (16 points) and Jordan Schnitzer, who scored 11 points in total. Among the ranks of Halkbank Ankara the top scorer is Unver (32 points), while the two old acquaintances of the Italian championship, Leal and Kooy, scored 10 points each. Allianz Milano’s first Champions League adventure therefore crashes against the rock of the Golden Set, after a match played at a high level and which allowed the Milanese team to compete for access to the quarter-finals through the decisive partial. For Porro and his teammates, now it’s time to focus totally on the SuperLega Credem Banca: the last day of the Regular Season will see Milan face Valsa Group Modena, Sunday 2 March at 6.00 pm.
