“An ordinary Saturday, an Italian Saturday”. So says an old song by Sergio Caputo. And what awaits the Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina next Saturday, February 3rd, in the evening match at 8.30pm in Pordenone, despite the important specific weight of the match, can still be attributed to the category of “any Saturdays”; In fact, the games that matter are still too far away. Yet the match, yet another in recent years against Prata, is a high-ranking clash. It had already happened several times in A3, when two seasons ago the two teams effectively shared everything that could be won: the Italian Cup went to the Friulians, the Super Cup went to Grottazzolina, and promotion came to both. Now comes another high-flying clash, this time in the cadet category: on the one hand the hosts, fourth in the rankings with 37 points; on the other the Yuasa Battery, pacesetter of the tournament with seven points more in the engine.
It is the PalaCrisafulli that acts as the theater for the dispute, with Pordenone always responding with a presence and with important numbers to Prata’s call, forcibly forced to move to the provincial capital due to the obligation of 1000 seats imposed by the League regulations.
Yet another clash between two teams experiencing great growth in the national volleyball scene, with a trend that has seen them compete three times on a Saturday evening in the last three regular seasons: in Grottazzolina, last November 11th, the result favored the local (3-1); a year earlier, however, on 12 November 2022, it was Boninfante’s “sparrows” who celebrated at home in the fifth set, while on 26 March 2022, in A3, again on a Saturday, it was the then Videx who took full advantage for 1-3.
