Aurispa Lecce announces the hiring of the young Salento spiker Raffaele Colaci. The 2007 born player is 197 cm tall and has just completed two Serie B seasons with Materdomini Castellana Grotte.

Colaci, originally from Monteroni di Lecce, is a product of the Castellana Grotte youth academy, with which he played in the various youth categories, winning provincial and regional titles under 15, under 17 and under 19. He played in seven national finals, obtaining three podiums and two third places. He also participated in two Regions Trophies, with the regional selection of Puglia, and was then called up by the under-17 national team. With the Italians, Colaci won the Wevza trophy in January 2023 and the European category championships in July of the same year . Finally, last January, the young spiker was awarded the title of “Best Salento Athlete for the 2022/23 season” by the FIPAV Lecce territorial committee and obtained a call from the Under 18 national team to participate in a collegiate team.

“Personally, I followed the path of Aurispa Lecce in the last two years while I played in Castellana – explains Colaci -. I must say that last season I came to watch some matches and I was able to admire a beautiful stadium and a very close-knit fanbase, always ready to give support to the kids.”

“I don’t know the new teammates personally, apart from Gaetano Penna – reveals the young spiker -, who I faced two years ago in Serie B, when he played for Lube. As regards my objectives, I aim to give my best, because in With this transition from Serie B to Serie A3 I want to understand if, despite my young age, I can make a contribution to the team and, at the same time, continue to grow and improve. I will try to live up to it and repay the trust that has been given to me from the club and from coach Cavalera.”

Young people and experts therefore make up the puzzle of athletes who will be part of the Aurispa Lecce roster for the 2024/25 sports season. The choices made by Sports Director Antonio Scarascia, under the supervision of coach Tonino Cavalera, respond to the need to create a heterogeneous team, interchangeable but capable of blending well, taking advantage of the different characteristics of each element.
