Matteo Picchio will be a player of MINT Vero Volley Monza. For the libero from Monza born in 2000, in his last season at Pool Libertas Cantù in Serie A2, it will be a welcome return to the club in which he grew up.

Picchio is a player born and raised in volleyball at the Consorzio Vero Volley, an organization with which he played in all youth categories, from minivolley to Under 18, until moving to the first team, which occurred for the first time in the 2018/2019 season. Great precision in reception, which also earned him the award for best libero of the 2016 Regions Trophy, is one of the characteristics that the player from Monza will make available to Massimo Eccheli’s roster, completing the department with Marco Gaggini, another product of the Vero Volley youth sector.

Matteo Picchio approached volleyball in 2007, practicing minivolley until 2009, in Pro Victoria Monza. He then played in the Under 12 championship with the Monza club. In 2012 he moved to Under 14, remaining in this category until 2014, the year in which he rose to Under 15 with Volley Milan. Born as a setter, then a spiker, Picchio began playing libero in 2016 at the Trofeo delle Regioni with Lombardia, a competition in which he received the award for best player in this role. After a year of Under 17 in 2015/2016, in the following two seasons the libero from Monza played with the Vero Volley Veneto Gas & Power Under 18, before joining Gi Group Monza in the SuperLega. In 2019/20 Picchio was part of the Robosystem Concorezzo roster in Serie B, before moving up to A2 with the Pool Libertas Cantù shirt. In 2021/22 the arrival at Top Volley Cisterna in A1, before returning to Cantù in A2 in the last two sporting seasons. Now, for the player from Brianza, the great opportunity to compete again in the top national category with the club that saw him grow.
