If we were in South or Central America, Belluno Volley would now be celebrating the victory of the championship: yes, the “secluded” championship. The one linked to the second half of the season. The other is the “opening” tournament.
The concept, deliberately taken to the extreme, is nevertheless indicative to underline the splendid return round conducted by the rhinos. The team led by Gian Luca Colussi, in fact, marched at a first-place pace: does this apply to the white group? Also for blue: in short, for the entire Serie A3 Credem Banca. From December 30th to the end of March, the people of Belluno had the best performance ever.
The numbers speak for themselves: 12 races played, 10 won and 28 points scored. One more than Senini Motta from Livenza – defeated in the Veneto derby linked to the last round of the regular season – and 2 from the sextet who then won the record and will compete against Palmi for the Del Monte Super Cup tomorrow (Saturday 30th): that is, the Seagull Mantua.
And in the other grouping? The fastest pace after Christmas was held by Smartsystem Fano, capable of winning 9 of the 12 challenges played. And to score 27 points: one less than a Belluno Volley team that recorded a failure only in Mirandola – in the most classic of incidents – and in the match at the Spes Arena against the league leaders. For the rest, a sequence of victories: from the two tie-breaks (in Brugherio and Bologna), to the challenging away matches in Cagliari and Valenza with Acqui Terme, passing through the direct clashes with San Donà, Savigliano and Motta.
Now the task of Bisi and his companions is to ride this wave of confidence. And to transfer the certainties, gained in 2024, also into the playoffs. Starting from Monday 1 April (7pm) and the first leg match valid for the round of 16: a match that will take the blue and whites to travel to the province of Alessandria, where Negrini Cte Acqui Terme is waiting for the rhinos.
