The awards ceremony of the fifth edition of the Hall Of Fame, promoted by the Italian Volleyball Federation, organized in collaboration with the Emilia-Romagna Region and with the patronage of the Municipality of Bologna, took place this morning in Bologna.
The event – hosted in the Enzo Biagi auditorium of the Salaborsa, hosted by the Sky Sport journalist Federica Lodi – saw the presence of the Councilor for Sport and Budget of the Municipality of Bologna Roberta Li Calzi, of the head of the political secretariat of the Presidency of Region Giammaria Manghi, the federal president Giuseppe Manfredi, the general secretary Stefano Bellotti, the president of the CR CONI Emilia Romagna Andrea Dondi, as well as the coach of the women’s national team, Julio Velasco, and the president of the men’s Serie A Volleyball League Massimo Righi.
The ceremony began with the usual greetings and thanks, followed by the presenter Federica Lodi inviting Councilor Roberta Li Calzi to the stage for a speech, followed by Giammaria Manghi, Giuseppe Manfredi and Andrea Dondi.
Among those who entered the Hall of Fame from Italian volleyball in this edition is Liliana Bernardi in the female athlete category. The former Italian central defender made 194 appearances for Italy and also won a bronze medal at the 1989 European Championships.
Next to take the stage was Aristo Isola who collected the award in the Managers category. During his long career as a sports manager he has achieved prestigious goals at a national and international level in volleyball, a sport to which he has dedicated himself with passion from a young age. For the managers category, Franco Leone was also elected (by right), represented on stage by his wife Ida. Leone was a historical figure of volleyball and his name is inextricably linked to CUS Torino. During his long managerial career he was also a federal councilor from 1977 to 1992.
The award in the beach volleyball category was given to Dionisio Lequaglie, for having been one of the protagonists of this sport also on an international level for several years.
