Second midweek round for Pool Libertas Cantù, which will be on stage on Thursday 7 December 2023 at 8.30 pm at the San Filippo Sports Center in Brescia against the hosts Consoli Sferc. This match is one of the classics of the category, and the victories on each side are equal. The Brescians currently occupy seventh place in the table, and on Saturday evening they lost 3-0 against the hosts Tinet Prata of Pordenone. At home, however, they lost only once: in the tie-break against Emma Villas Siena.

Coach Francesco Denora Caporusso presents the challenge like this: “We immediately returned to the gym, happy with the victory, but with the desire to work to get back on the path to the good game. We’ll be back on the field immediately, and we’ll do it at the home of a top-ranked candidate. The investments and ambitions are well known, and the fact that they lost the last race in Prata di Pordenone certainly doesn’t work in our favor: they will be determined to do it again. For our part, the approach to the match will have to be decidedly different compared to the last one: we are going to a field with references that are difficult to find, and against important hitters. It will be important to keep going straight away and try to sting with our serve. They are very expert, managing errors and moments could be decisive.”

THE OPPONENTS

On the bench of Consoli Sferc sits Roberto Zambonardi for the eighteenth consecutive season, who led the team in the ride from Serie B2 to Serie A2. In the control room there is a pillar of the Brescia team, as well as Captain, as well as one of the most expert setters in the category: Simone Tiberti, born in 1980, who wears this shirt for the ninth consecutive year. Opposite is the Dutch Niels Klapwijk, the last two seasons in Poland in the Plusliga. The spikers are the former player of the day Roberto Cominetti, who arrived in the summer from Agnelli Tipiesse Bergamo, and the confirmed Cuban Abrahan Alfonso Gavilan. Also in the center is a new face and a confirmation: the first is Alex Erati, who also arrived in this championship from Delta Group Porto Viro, and the second is Nicola Candeli, in his fifth season in Brescia (with a parenthesis in Ravenna in the SuperLega). The libero is Andrea Franzoni, another familiar face, also in his fifth year among the Brescians.

PREVIOUS

There are 20 precedents between these two teams, with the balance in perfect parity: 10 victories each. In the two Regular Season matches last season, the result was the same: a 3-1 victory for Pool Libertas Cantù both at the San Filippo Sports Center and at the PalaFrancescucci.
