Lube staff unchanged for the 2023/24 competitive season. With coach Chicco Blengini already under contract and with the second coach Romano Giannini freshly renewed, the permanence of the athletic trainer Max Merazzi was already taken for granted, who on the eve of last season had signed a two-year renewal and who is preparing to experience his thirteenth year in the cooking team after having contributed to making Lube one of the most successful teams of the 21st century. In a phase of great rejuvenation of the roster, the figure of Merazzi represents another link between the old and the new course of a team that in recent years has lifted the most important trophies at national and international level.
The assistant coach Enrico Massaccesi and the scout-man Alessandro Zarroli will still be part of the technical staff, important presences for the team not only from a technical point of view, but also from a human point of view.
The health staff, confirmed in all its elements, will still be made up of team doctors Mariano Avio and Danilo Compagnucci, physiotherapists Marco Frontaloni and Tommaso Pagnanelli, together with nutritionist Alessandro Marinelli. Outsourcers also include illustrious professionals who accompany the work of the staff such as, for example, Massimo Balsano for vertebral pathologies.
Massimo Merazzi: “The 2023/24 season will be full of expectations and as difficult as it is full of stimuli. Last year there was an important change in the team and at the first attempt we amazed by arriving at the best of the Scudetto Finale. More than that, only victory exists and the sporting world expects us to grow. I don’t know if we’ll already be equipped to win titles again, but we’ll try hard. The management worked on the market to raise the level, but already last season we were physically and mentally ready in the key phase. On the other hand, we on the staff had worked with the aim of a leap in quality in direct matches. To be honest, even if the fourth consecutive Scudetto didn’t arrive, winning Game 4 of the Finale with Trento at home was one of the greatest satisfactions of my career.
