One last piece to complete the mosaic and definitively archive the shopping campaign. In Grottazzolina the market gong sounds at the hands of a Bulgarian hammer, class 96, 199 cm long, from the A3 series. A joker who responds to the name of Aleksandar Mitkov and gives an even more chameleon-like meaning to Massimiliano Ortenzi’s roster.

Able to perform both as a spiker and as an opposite, Mitkov has chosen the Yuasa Battery project for what will be his fourth season in the Bel Paese. A career that kicks off in the top French championship, precisely in Lyon, in the three-year period 2015-18. A brief parenthesis in Hungary in Deya Volley follows and the 2019/20 season is the one of the debut in the A3 championship with the Brugherio shirt. A year later it was time to pack his bags again, this time in the direction of Turkey, where the Siran Akademi was waiting for him. The A3 series embraces him once again starting from the 2021/22 season: Brugherio is always in the destiny before moving on to Montecchio Maggiore, a formation with which he closes the 2022/23 championship by signing 428 points (30 aces, 18 blocks) in 26 matches seasonal.

“I am delighted to be joining this club,” said the Bulgarian spiker. The Yuasa Battery has set up a very strong team, with a coach and staff who have given me excellent impressions. I am sure that this year we will aim for the maximum.”

The paths of Mitkov and Grottazzolina have already met in the successful 2021/22 season, the one that brought Massimiliano Ortenzi and his boys an A3 Super Cup and promotion to A2: “When I faced Grottazzolina as an opponent, I already saw a very well organised, technically and tactically – continued the new signing from the Marche region -. To this day I see continued growth and development. For a motivated person like me this is a very important aspect so when the proposal arrived I didn’t think twice.”
