At 17.00 Italian time, 19.00 local time, Valsa Group Modena will be engaged in the Ataturk Voleybol Salonu against Arkas Izmir, the fifth strength of the Turkish championship, who reached the Round of 16 of the CEV Cup thanks to the double success against the Belgians of Gent, with a 3- 2 in Belgium and a 3-1 return leg. Andrea Giani’s yellows, galvanized by the victory in four sets over Verona in the last round of SuperLega, will aim to prolong the good form moment, which has seen them protagonists of six victories in the last seven matches, including the double challenge with Sastamala in Round of 32 Final (only one set conceded to the Finns). Different form but identical course in the cup for Bluenergy Daiko Piacenza, who in his first participation in a European competition got the better of Prague in the round of 32, winning both matches: the first leg 3-0 at the Pala Banca, the return for 3-1 in the Czech Republic, with the third set won by the hosts already irrelevant for the purposes of qualification. Lorenzo Bernardi’s men will find Fenerbahce HDI Istanbul on their path, currently sixth in the Turkish Efeler Ligi rankings, in which they have collected three consecutive victories. The formation coached by Jorge Castellani had to resort to the Golden Set to reach the Round of 16 of the CEV Cup, recovering the Romanians of SCM Craiova: having lost the first leg in Romania 3-1, Fenerbahce overturned the result (3- 0) in Istanbul and then in the extra set he prevailed 15-11.
The return of the eighths is expected in two weeks (December 14). Between the first leg and the second leg, the two Emilian teams will be called to the final rush of the first leg of SuperLega Credem Banca: on the 10th day Piacenza will host Cisterna in its third consecutive home match (Civitanova, Fenerbahce and Top Volley) and will be away to Padua in the 11th (and last) first leg, while Modena will only have the away match to Monza on 4 December to increase their tally and try to maintain their current second place (11th matchday already played against Trento on 26/10 ).
