Almost 500 photos of volleyball players are now available for Wikipedia on line. The partnership between Lega Volley and Wikipedia reached a deal for this spread of informations about the best volleyball tournament in the world. Lega Volley Serie A, Unipolsai Superleague and Serie A2 front office, the collective of all the teams in these two league are always sensible to the brand new tools of communication.
In Project “Progetto Pallavolo”, Legavolley.it gave all the accesses to Wiki partners, Wikipedia in italian, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata.

Database of images and multimedia contents of Wiki, Wikimedia Commons, now have the access to 496 pictures of volleyball players during last decades, and every picture will be connected in default to Wikimedia Commons in Wikidata, giving the chance to spread the voice of every single athlete on the web, in all the 290 editions of Wikipedia.
Coordinator of the project Cristian Cenci said: “we are enthusiastic about the project, we had the support of alot of users of Wikipedia, Commons and Wikidata, their help was fundamental to us for the success of this project. With Lega Volley we had a continue chat and mettings, continuing to collaborate in this important partnership, let’s hope that this deal will help us to open some doors to some other Leagues or Federations”.
Lega Volley Vice Director and Chief of Communication Dept. Fabrizio Rossini said: “we are always protective about our players database, especially about free pages on our website. But at the same time we are looking for more visibility and exposure of our tournament. Wikipedia is world leader in infos, and they needed to work on official contents and official links. We want to thank the dozen of people, all volontaries, who cover the exposure of volleyball italian page 365x24x7, helping our movement to stay always on the line, always present with near live in events and media days, together with all the clubs during the Transfer Market in summer. Will be a useful partnership who will give big credit to both the ends Lega Volley and Wikipedia”.
