Huge win for Cuneo in front of 4500 Rzeszow  fans. Thanks to this 3-0 away win, Piazza’s boys are top of the group with 9 points. The guests played top quality volleyball with very sharp serving, which sent the Polish reception in tatters. Sokolov finished top scorer with 17 points (2 aces, 2 blocks). Nine aces all together for Cuneo and a nice 56% in reception for NGapeth.

Marco Pistolesi (General Manager Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We played a fantastic game, another one after last Sunday’s performance against Piacenza, and that was in an amazing atmosphere. The Polish fans applauded us at the end of the game, that’s something really great. We made a big step forward with those three points in the group, and we also improved further as a team, we were close to perfection. I’m not going to mention any individual because I think the team has to be praised as a unit. There was some brilliance about our game, we have been solid. We’ll try to keep this going in the important league game that awaits us against Verona”.

GENERALI UNTERHACHING – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0-3 (20-25, 24-26, 19-25) – GENERALI UNTERHACHING: Den Boer, Steuerwald 2, Raymaekers 10, Snippe 5, Shumov 7, Hupka, Friedrich, Duennes 14, Shafranovich 5, PrÜsener (L). DNP Riethmayer, Hirsch. Coach. Paduretu.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: De Moraes Lampariello, Pajenk 7, Zaytsev 10, Parodi 8, Henno (L), Travica 2, Starovic 16, Podrascanin 3. DNP Stankovic, Monopoli, Randazzo, Tartaglione. Coach. Giuliani.

Unstoppable Macerata. The Italian champs won in the tiny Unterhaching gym 3-0, remained undefeated and went four points clear of the Germans at the top of the group. If they were to win the coming return leg, they would be mathematically certain to go to the knock-out stage with two games in hand. This was Macerata’s tenth victory in as many games this season.

Alberto Giuliani (Allenatore Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We fell asleep in the second set and let a good Unterhaching back in it, but we did a good job of recovering at the end of the set. We also handled the crucial moments of the third without too much worries. This is a crucial victory, because this consolidates our first place and this gives us the possibility to clinch qualification next week when the Germans come over. Before this game, which we hope to win to go through with two games in hand, we’ll play a big league game against Trento, being at our absolute best psychologically and physically. The hard work we do every day and the excellent attitude of the boys in every game led us to these ten consecutive wins. We have to continue like that”.

TRENTINO DIATEC – ZAKSA KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-22)

TRENTINO DIATEC : Kaziyski 14, Birarelli 2, Juantorena Portuondo 14, Vieira De Oliveira 1, Lanza, Tzourits 5, Colaci (L), Stokr 19, Bari (L). DNP Sintini, Uchikov, Burgsthaler. Coach. Stoytchev.

ZAKSA KEDZIERZYN-KOZLE: Kapelus (L), Witczak, Rouzier 21, Zagumny 1, Zaplacki 1, Pilarz, Gladyr 8, Marques Fonteles 11, Ruciak 9, Mozdzonek 3. DNP Polanski. Coach. Castellani.

The big game of group C went to Trento, who severely defeated Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, previously tied on top of the group with the Italians. This is the 12th consecutive win this season for Trento, the 9th on a 3-0 score, a record in the history of the club.

Radostin Stoytchev (coach Trentino Diatec): “This was a good game, we played well as a group once again. We might not have played our best volleyball but it’s important to win against such a strong opponent when you are not 100%. We found various alternatives during the game. A good day for Stokr and at the net, especially from the second set on when our decision making improved”.

Latina fell in the Cev Cup 8th of final first leg against Valepa Sastamala. In order to go through, the Italians will have to win the return leg at home as well as take the Golden set. The number of sets won will have no incidence. Medenis (50%) and Kunnari (51%) were Esko’s main targets, the attack was key and the Fins did not give much away either. 18 mistakes against the 25 from Latina.

Danilo Contrario (Scout Andreoli Latina): “We have been poor, they put us under pressure with their serve and our reception failed to respond adequately. The situation improved as Jarosz came on at the end of the second set, he ended the third with 13 out of 15 (87% in attack), but the turning point came in the fourth set when they managed to score seven consecutive points from 8-11 to 15-11. Our substitutions had no effect to stop their positive run. We have to give credit to them, especially to Kunnari in attack and Esko”.
